Unexpected results
Dr. McCoy looks up from his clipboard. "Are you right- or left-handed?"
I blink. "I..don't know. No one's ever asked me that before."
White teeth show in a grin around blue fur. "Let's perform a simple experiment to find out, shall we?"
I nod my assent warily.
"Just stand there, on the floor." He waves to a clear spot, and I jump there. "All you have to do is lean forward until you feel you're about to fall over. Close your eyes first, and rely on your instinct to catch yourself before you fall." He backs up a few steps to watch.
I close my eyes and start to lean forward. My tail automatically extends to balance me. I lean more. More. I can feel myself starting to fall...I'm going to fall! Instinctively, I catch myself and open my eyes.
Dr. McCoy is looking up at me, perched on one of the pipes. "Well," he says, making a note on his clipboard, "THAT was unexpected."
